Athletic Update

Westfall High School and Middle School will make necessary modifications for all athletic events for the winter  seasons due to the current Pandemic of COVID-19. Westfall Local Schools will follow orders and directives per the Governor, the Ohio Department of Health, the Pickaway County Health Department, and the OHSAA. Decisions will follow the current mandates and future changes and amendments.

Spectators

  • Westfall will allow spectators, admission to home events will be limited based on the  seating capacity of the indoor or outdoor facility. The capacity will be based on the appropriate social distancing between family groups and 15% of facility capacity or 300 for indoor facilities whichever is lower. Home and visiting schools will receive an equal percentage of tickets based on seating capacity per the home and visitor seating sections. 

  • Spectators must wear a mask/face covering to enter a facility. Masks are mandatory at all indoor events. Masks are required at outdoor facilities for spectators.. (Exceptions by law are allowed) 

  • Spectators must conduct a daily assessment of symptoms before attending events.

  • Spectators who do not comply with mandates and guidelines may be asked to leave.

  • Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the start of each event for spectators.

  • Spectators must enter through the north entrance to the high school.

  • The gymnasium may be cleared after each event and sanitized depending on event.

  • Hand Sanitizer will be provided at all entrances and on team benches

  • Adequate cleaning and sanitizing of facilities will take place daily.

  • The Athletic Director will facilitate the sale of tickets to both home and visiting spectators for basketball and wrestling as necessary, in a manner that limits seating to each facility's limited seating capacity.

    • Visiting athletic directors will be given school allotment of tickets/vouchers/passcodes to dispense at their discretion. ( 2 tickets per player/student/ coach when possible.)

    • Tickets should be used by family members or close relatives.

    • Tickets can only be purchased online at https://www.westfallschools.com

    • Tickets may become available an hour before each event  if any left unsold.

    • Visiting Athletic Director will also provide a pass list of an additional 10 people for admission. (Administration, board of education, etc.)

    • NO Passes will be accepted due to limited capacity.

Basketball

  • Middle school games will take place in the High School gymnasium whenever there is not a conflict with a high school sporting event.

  • Spectators: Seating on the south side of high school gymnasium, home team fans on the west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Gymnasium will be cleared following the Reserve Game or 7th grade game and re-opened after sanitizing has taken place. Approximately 45 minutes.

  • Players/Team Personnel: Seating on North side of gym, home team on west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Teams should come dressed and ready, locker rooms for restrooms only. Arrive no more than 30 minutes before game time.

  • Visiting teams will need to bring basketballs for warmups.

  • Players/Team Personnel must wear a mask when not actively participating.

  • Players/team personnel should bring their own water bottle and towel.

  • Spectators should exit gymnasium immediately after game has ended. Spectators should not be congregating in the gym or cafeteria following the event.

  • Spectators and team personnel  must maintain social distancing with non household members. 

  • Masks should be worn at all times when not actively participating for players and team personnel.

  • JV Games will start at 5:15 for both boys and girls. Gym will be cleared after JV boys games only, Varsity boys games will start approximately 7:30 or 45 minutes after the conclusion of the JV game.

  • Middle School games will be played at High school except the following dates: 12/16/20, 1/13/21 and 1/20/21

  • Seating Capacity 850 south side of gym: 15% capacity 128 spectators.

  • Seating Capacity Middle School: 400 seats: 15% capacity 60 spectators.

Wrestling( Duals/Tri/Quad Matches)

  • Spectators: Seating on the south side of high school gymnasium, home team fans on the west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Gymnasium will be cleared following the Middle School match and re-opened after sanitizing has taken place. Approximately 45 minutes.

  • Players/Team Personnel: Seating on North side of gym, home team on west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Players/Team Personnel must wear a mask when not actively participating.

  • Players/team personnel should bring their own water bottle and towel.

  • Spectators should exit gymnasium immediately after game has ended. Spectators should not be congregating in the gym or cafeteria following the event.

  • Spectators and team personnel  must maintain social distancing with non household members. 

  • Masks should be worn at all times when not actively participating for players and team personnel.

  • Seating Capacity 850 south side of gym: 15% capacity 128 spectators.

Wrestling (Tournament)

  • Spectators: Seating on the south side of high school gymnasium, home team fans on the west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Players/Team Personnel: Seating on North side of gym, home team on west end, visitors on the east end.

  • Players/Team Personnel must wear a mask when not actively participating.

  • Players/team personnel should bring their own water bottle and towel.

  • Spectators should exit gymnasium immediately after game has ended. Spectators should not be congregating in the gym or cafeteria following the event.

  • Spectators and team personnel  must maintain social distancing with non household members. 

  • Masks should be worn at all times when not actively participating for players and team personnel.

  • Tournament may be reduced to 6 Teams.

  • No outside food brought in by teams. Team areas will be designated for wrestlers not actively participating outside of the gym area. Masks and Social Distancing required.

  • Teams can only bring number of wrestlers actively participating.

  • Seating Capacity 850 south side of gym: 15% capacity 128 spectators.

Concessions

  • Concessions may be available in consultation with the Pickaway County Health Department.

  • Individuals in line for concessions should practice social distancing and wear masks while waiting.

Cheerleaders

  • Only Essential cheer personnel will be permitted without the purchase of a ticket.

  • 8 Cheerleaders per game. 4 Active during the game at a time.

  • No Tunnels or Floor Cheers on time outs or quarter breaks

  • Each School can do hello cheer before game or at halftime.

  • Cheerleaders and advisors should maintain social distancing during events and have a mask on while not actively participating.

  • Cheerleaders and advisors must wear a mask at all times when not actively performing. 

  • Cheerleaders not actively participating must be seated in North Bleachers behind team area. Social distancing and mask required.

Pep Band:

  • The band will not be performing live at home events, we may use video or livestreaming of performances of National Anthem and Fight Song during games.

Livestream:

  • All home high school and middle school contests will be livestreamed on the Westfall Schools Website at  https://www.westallschools.com

  • You can also tune in on your ROKU device, simply search "Westfall Local Schools" to find our channel. Once you have added the channel, look for live events to see the contest.

Designated Compliance Officer must be at all home events to ensure  that all mandates and orders are followed per the ODH, OHSAA, and Local Health Department. Please help as we all are adjusting to these guidelines.   Spectators not in compliance with guidelines and mandates may be asked to leave.
